Production start-up of Duva Field

News release  | 24/08/2021

Idemitsu Petroleum Norge together with the operator Neptune Energy Norge and the other Duva partners, PGNiG Upstream Norway and Sval Energy, today announced the safe and successful start-up of production from the Duva Field in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.

Duva has been developed as a subsea installation with three oil producers and one gas producer, tied back to the Neptune Energy-operated Gjøa semi-submersible platform. The project has been completed ahead of schedule and under budget.

"The use of new evaluation techniques in a mature area resulted in the Duva discovery five years ago and was significant for improving the technical understanding of the area. The short lead time from discovery to the commencement of production from Duva is another significant milestone delivered within budget. Over the next 10 years, Duva is expected to deliver important volumes to Idemitsu Petroleum Norge with one of the lowest CO2 emissions per produced barrel of oil equivalent (boe) in Norway."
Futoshi Tsuneyama, Managing Director, Idemitsu Petroleum Norge

Duva is located 14 km northeast of the Neptune Energy-operated Gjøa field at a water depth of 340 metres. The Operators estimated total reserves are 71 million boe, of which 56 % is gas. It will add approximately 30 kboepd (gross) to the Gjøa facility at plateau.

The Duva field is expected to produce for approximately 10 years, which extends the operating life of the Gjøa platform. This will help lower production costs per barrel, adding significant value to the Duva partners and producing much-needed low carbon energy. Tied back to existing infrastructure, it is expected to have one of the lowest CO2 footprints per boe produced in Norway.

Licence partners: Neptune Energy (30% and operator), Idemitsu Petroleum Norge (30%), PGNiG Upstream Norway (30%), Sval Energi (10%)
