INPEX Idemitsu Norge awarded eight production licences in APA 2024
On 14 January 2025, the Ministry of Energy announced offers to INPEX Idemitsu Norge (IIN) of eight production licences, as part of Awards in Predefined Areas (APA) 2024.
The offer includes operatorship in PL 1263 and PL 1264 and partner shares in PL 318 D, PL 636 D, PL 1194 C, PL 1257, PL 1274 and PL 1276. The licences are located in INPEX Idemitsu core areas in the northern North Sea and in the Norwegian Sea.
The eight APA 2024 licences offered are expected to be an important contribution to further expansion of IIN’s business portfolio, with new exploration opportunities in underexplored plays where IIN has a prime position. Moreover, the awards will underpin the company’s position in the North and Norwegian seas.
The extensive award to INPEX Idemitsu in APA 2024 is most welcome, as are the two new operatorships offered. Organic growth represents one of the pillars for IIN’s continued growth strategy on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
