Cerisa field development approved

News release  | 25/06/2026

INPEX Idemitsu Norge AS (“IIN”) and partners have approved the final investment decision for the Cerisa development in production licence PL 636 north of Gjøa in the northern North Sea.

The Cerisa development adds low-cost volumes to the Duva field, with production start only three years after discovery.
Ryota Ando, Managing Director of IIN

“The Cerisa development increases the production from the Gjøa area, supporting the company’s growth strategy”, says Mr. Ryota Ando, Managing Director of IIN.

Mr. Ando adds that the development continues the long-term value creation north of Gjøa and reinforces IIN’s commitment to develop the area and looking for further exploration opportunities. Production from Cerisa will also contribute to the company’s net zero vision with its low emissions, as tie-back host Gjøa is partly powered from shore.

The Cerisa project is a tie-back to the Gjøa production platform and will be utilising existing Duva infrastructure. Two production wells will be drilled from the Duva subsea template. Production is scheduled to start towards the end of 2027, only three years after the Cerisa discovery in 2024.

The Cerisa development is part of the Gjøa Subsea Projects, a portfolio project also including the PL 153 Gjøa Nord development and the PL 929 Ofelia development, creating synergies in both project execution and the supply chain.

IIN is well-positioned for additional exploration opportunities north of Gjøa, with drilling of the Sava prospect later this year and with ownership in several licences in the exploration phase, including IIN-operated licence PL 1217.

Reference is made to the Vår Energi press release for further description of the Gjøa Subsea Projects.

INPEX Idemitsu Norge (IIN) is part of INPEX Corporation, Japan’s leading energy enterprise. The company entered the Norwegian Continental Shelf in 1989 by acquiring a stake in the Snorre field. The IIN office is located at Lysaker and currently employs around ninety highly skilled and experienced professionals.

PL 636 Cerisa partners: INPEX Idemitsu Norge AS (“IIN”) (30 %), Vår Energi ASA (Operator; 30 %), Orlen Upstream Norway AS (30 %) and DNO Norge AS (10 %).
